Checkout & Customer Accounts
Decide whether shoppers can buy as guests, can optionally create an account, or must sign in before ordering. Customers sign in to your store with their email and password, with Google, or both.
Checkout modes
| Mode | What customers see |
|---|---|
| Guest or sign in (default) | Anyone can check out as a guest. Customers can also create an account to save their details and see their order history. |
| Guest checkout only | No customer accounts. Sign-in pages are switched off and everyone checks out with just their details. |
| Account required | Customers must sign in or create an account before placing an order. Their cart is kept while they sign in. |

Sign-in methods
| Method | How it works |
|---|---|
| Email and password (default) | Customers sign up with their name, email and a password, as described below. |
| Continue with Google | One click with a Google account — no password, and the email is already confirmed, so past guest orders are linked straight away. If an account with the same email already exists, Google is added to it. |
Turn each one on or off under Sign-in methods. At least one must stay on. With only Google on, the sign-in, sign-up and checkout pages show just the Google button. Nothing needs setting up with Google — it works on your Joomni subdomain and on custom domains.

Customer accounts
Sign up
Customers create an account at/account/registerwith their name, email and a password of at least 8 characters.Confirm the email
With Require email confirmation on (the default), they click the link we email them before their first sign-in. The link works for 24 hours.Sign in
At/account/login. They stay signed in on that device for up to 30 days, and can sign out of every device from their account page.Forgot password
A reset link valid for 30 minutes is emailed from/account/forgot-password. Resetting signs the customer out everywhere.
Account emails are sent from your store using your own email settings, and you can change their wording under Settings › Email Templates (Customer: Confirm Email and Customer: Password Reset).
Design the sign-in pages
The sign-in, create-account, forgot-password, new-password and email-confirmed pages share one design. Open the theme editor and pick the Customer Sign-in Pages page, then select the Customer Account Form section to change the layout (centred, or split with an image), headings, button text and colours. Use Show in editor to preview each form. You can add other sections, including Liquid sections, above or below the form. If the page is missing from an older theme, use Sync pages in the theme editor.
Past guest orders
When a customer confirms their email, earlier guest orders placed with the same address appear in their order history. Orders are only linked after the email is confirmed, so nobody can see someone else's orders by signing up with their address.
Security
| Protection | What it does |
|---|---|
| Sign-in limits | Repeated wrong passwords lock that email for 15 minutes; heavy traffic from one address is slowed down. |
| Secure sessions | Sign-in is kept in a secure cookie your theme’s code cannot read, and is renewed automatically. |
| Per-store accounts | An account belongs to one store. The same email on another Joomni store is a separate customer. |
