Client stores
As an approved partner you work on a client’s store as a collaborator: you ask for access, the merchant approves it and chooses your permissions, and the store appears in your store switcher. You never need the merchant’s password.
Request access
Get two things from your client
Their store address (for exampleacme.joomni.com, justacme, or their own domain) and their collaborator request code. Stores require the code by default; the owner finds it under Settings › Collaborators.Click Request store access
In the portal's Clients screen. Enter the address, the code and an optional message to the owner.Choose the access you need
Start from a preset (Full access, Design or Catalogue) or tick individual permissions. The owner sees what you asked for and can change it before approving.Wait for approval
The owner gets a notification and an email. When they approve, you get one too, and the store shows as Active.
If the request is refused straight away
Work in a client store
Click Open store on an active client, or pick the store in the dashboard's store switcher (it has a Client badge). You use the normal dashboard: products, orders, the page builder and so on, limited to the permissions the owner gave you. Sidebar items you have no permission for are hidden.

Changes to your permissions apply on your next action in the store. Ticking Manage also gives View.
What collaborators can't do
Whatever permissions you have, these stay with the store owner:
- Billing, plans and store credit.
- The Settings area, including staff, sessions, collaborators, custom domains and the account itself.
- Payment gateway, SMS and email (SMTP) credentials. They are hidden from you.
- API keys, webhooks, MCP connection keys and AI provider keys.
- Deleting or transferring the store.
The owner can see what you change: every change a collaborator makes is listed under Collaborator activity in their Settings.
Connect an AI assistant to a client store
You can connect Claude, ChatGPT or another MCP client to a client store from the connection screen your AI app opens. Client stores are labelled there. The connection only gets what your permissions allow, the same as the dashboard's AI agent, and it stops working the moment your access is changed or removed. See Claude & ChatGPT.
Leaving a store
Click Leave on the store in the portal, or Cancel request while it's pending. The owner can also remove you at any time, which signs you out of that store and disconnects your AI connections to it.
